Mackenzie can be found behind the scenes in most aspects of the Issroff Family Foundation, putting to use both her attention to detail and systems-thinking approach. She studied modern African history at Clemson University and completed a Master’s Degree in African History at the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on alternative epistemologies and Yoruba women’s intellectual history. Mackenzie represented a non-profit organization at the 58th Commission on the Status of Women, during which time she was privileged to meet and learn from many governmental and non-governmental African women leaders. She also spent the summer of 2016 in Ibadan, Nigeria, on a Fulbright scholarship. These experiences revealed to her the strength, creativity, and determination of leaders based on the African continent, and she is so thankful to now be able to partner with such world-changers in her role at IFF. Mackenzie has also worked as a K-12 educator and an office manager, and remains an artist, wife, and mother, working to leave her tiny corner of the world a better place than she found it.
